چکیده

Satsuma mandarin, Citrus unshiu Marcovitch, has been grown for over a century in the Gulf Coast region of the United States (English and Turnipseed 1940). However, the last decade has recorded a major increase in the production of this crop in southern Alabama, fuelled by improved production and tree protection methods and strong industry and state support (Campbell et al. 2004). Studies have identified several pest species capable of limiting the expansion of satsuma mandarin production in the region (Henne et al. 2003; Fadamiro et al. 2007, 2008). In particular, two species of leaffooted bugs (Hemiptera: Coreidae), Leptoglossus zonatus (Dallas) and L. phyllopus (L.), were identified as key direct pests of satsuma with the potential for major economic losses (Henne et al. 2003; Fadamiro et al. 2008). In southern Alabama, the predominant Leptoglossus spp. on satsuma is L. zonatus (Dallas),

Host preference and development of Leptoglossus zonatus (Hemiptera: Coreidae) on satsuma mandarin.

Leptoglossus zonatus (Dallas) (Hemiptera: Coreidae) has recently emerged as a key pest of satsuma mandarin, Citrus unshiu Marcovitch, and other fruit crops in the Gulf Coast region of the United States. Studies were conducted under laboratory conditions (25 +/- 2 degrees C, 50 +/- 10% RH, and a photoperiod of 14:10 [L:D] h) to investigate host preference and suitability of satsuma fruit as host...

Parental diagnosis of satsuma mandarin (Citrus unshiu Marc.) revealed by nuclear and cytoplasmic markers

Satsuma mandarins (Citrus unshiu Marc.) are the predominant cultivated citrus variety in Japan. Clarification of its origin would prove valuable for citrus taxonomy and mandarin breeding programs; however, current information is limited. We applied genome-wide genotyping using a 384 citrus single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) array and MARCO computer software to investigate the satsuma mandarin...

The effect of rootstocks on sugars, acids, carotenoids, chlorophylls, and ethylene of Satsuma mandarin (Citrus unshiu)

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of rootstocks on fruit sugars, organic acids, and carotenoids. The contents of sugars and organic acids in fruits were determined by HPLC. Total acidity (TA), total soluble solids (TSS), and pH value of the juice were also evaluated. Total carotenoids and chlorophylls contents were measured using a spectrophotometer. The content of ethylene in fruits was ...
